The power of capturing and using information at the point of care

The increased pace of innovation toward digital competence in health care includes the core innovation to reach future best practice, the electronic health record (EHR). However, the interoperability between EHRs in different specialties and across medical institutions remains low and the ability of EHRs to capture and analyze information to be useful at the point of care is low, a finding of my paper “The power of capturing and using information at the point of care” (Healthcare, 2016) co-authored with Adam Powell (PhD in Economics from Wharton School and BS from MIT) and Dr. John Torous, psychiatrist and co-director of the digital psychiatry program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
