WILLIAM H. GRUBER, PhD:
VISION FOR TRANSFORMATION OF HEALTH CARE
Dr. Gruber has focused his
recent research, presentations, and publications on the transformation of health
care with a high expected benefit to cost ratio for investment in the health
information technology revolution that has only recently become a strong force
in the achievement of higher quality, progress in medial science evidence based
medicine, and savings that have the potential to achieve over one trillion
dollars a year – of which about 50% will accrue to a reduction in the
forecasted federal deficit.
In a recent presentation
Dr. Gruber focused on the stages of the health care revolution from paper
–based clinical records to the electronic health record (EHR) to population
and bundled based payment from fee-for–service (FFS) to mobile health which is
now a major disruptive technology that is largely not integrated with the
traditional CIO function of health care providers and with this the link to the
personal health record (PHR). In this vision for transformation of health care
Dr. Gruber references his over four decades of research and teaching with
appointments at Sloan School of Management at MIT, Harvard Business School,
Northeastern University and Boston College Graduate School of Business.
